B2B Freight Quoting — Firestore at scale

A client engagement: a high-volume export freight quoting system generating a large number of quotes daily for enterprise shippers.

  • Designed tiered storage — Firestore for active quotes, GCS for cold storage, Redis for search — to cut infrastructure costs at scale
  • Built a multi-layer caching system (Redis + Firestore Bundles + CDN) with signed, per-company bundle delivery
  • Integrated supplier invoicing with the Exact Online accounting API
  • Reworked the freight quote form's UX — origin/destination fields, container quantity, and CTA hierarchy

  • Built a multi-layer content moderation pipeline (Dart, Cloud Functions, Firestore Rules) to block unauthorized link posting

The short version

Third Degree Apps is a small engineering studio based in Metro Manila. We work in industries where the software isn't allowed to be flaky — B2B platforms processing real transactions, healthcare tools, logistics systems tracking real freight, and social platforms with real users.

We're led by Bright, who still writes code every day — architecting a caching layer in the morning, reviewing a pull request in the afternoon. This is where that standard of work lives outside any one client.
